The Times Union, an award-winning print and digital news outlet serving New York's Capital Region, Hudson Valley and beyond, is seeking a reporter to augment its acclaimed state Capitol Bureau and serve as the chief creator of an expanded version of the current Capitol Confidential newsletter.

　　The chosen candidate will be a self-starter capable of not only reporting their own stories on a regular basis, but also aggregating work by other outlets throughout the week. The job duties will also include serving as the host/MC of roughly a half-dozen live events on public-policy topics through the year.

　　Job requirements:

　　The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of political reporting experience. The preferred candidate will also have a familiarity with New York's political ecosystem as well as with daily online newsletter distribution and the shifting sands of social media engagement.

　　Location: The candidate will be based in Albany at the Capitol as well as well as report to the Times Union's newsroom, though hybrid work is allowed.

　　In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York State. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York State, is $70k-$k. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York State. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York State, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
