This role is an integral part of our corporate finance and accounting team, which serves the business operations of the F&V companies. As a General Ledger Accountant, you will be responsible for entering accurate financial transactions, reconciling general ledger accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. You will assist with analyzing financial data and reporting it to management, preparation of financial statements, and supporting the needs of financial audits. Responsibilities: * Perform general ledger accounting functions and financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. * Research any general ledger discrepancies, provide analysis, and communicate information to the Controller. * Enter financial data and transactions into the general ledger and reconcile against financial statements and documentation. * Review financial documents for accuracy and reconcile accounts. * Analyze financial data and provide financial recommendations. * Ensure financial records comply with regulatory standards. * Assist in month- and year-end closing processes. * Develop and disseminate timely and accurate financial reports to appropriate team members and/or groups. * Assist with preparation of taxes and/or gathering tax documents. * Assist with financial audits by providing necessary documentation to auditors. * Support the Controller and accounting team members in their duties as needed. * Perform financial responsibilities with professional skepticism to recommend process improvements and identify gaps in financial controls. * Deliver exceptional customer service to all internal customers and maintain ongoing communication with a variety of team members. We will be looking for these skills and abilities for the General Ledger Accountant position: * Attention to Detail: General Ledger Accountants need to be meticulous in their work to ensure that all financial records are accurate and error-free. * Analytical Thinking: These professionals must have strong analytical skills to be able to interpret financial data and identify trends or potential issues. * Organization: General Ledger Accountants must be well-organized to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records. * Communication: They need to have strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting. * Technical proficiency: General Ledger Accountants should have a strong understanding of accounting software, spreadsheets, and other financial tools to carry out their duties effectively. Education and Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience. * 3+ years of accounting experience required. * Background in an engineering or construction firm strongly desired Computer Skills: * Highly proficient in Windows OS, Microsoft office applications and Access is preferred. * Experience with Deltek Vision desired.
