Accountable for leading the shared service process for the company’s client (owner) contracts, subcontractor/vendor contracts, personal injury claims, and general counsel. Responsible for oversight of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws. Responsible for oversight of company legal matters and providing legal advice to leaders across the enterprise.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Client (Owner) Proposals and Contracts
Accountable for developing and updating favorable Pike client contract templates.
Accountable for reviewing proposal and/or bid documentation for contractual issues and general condition specifications for potential risk. Ensure that qualifications are submitted with bids or proposals.
Accountable for ensuring client contractual notices follow the requirements of their respective contract documents.
Responsible for reviewing the terms and conditions of owner contracts. Drive shared service process to identify, process, and negotiate away any adverse clauses or conditions. Process must engage appropriate Operations Executives, COO, and President.
Responsible for assisting appropriate Project Executives, COO, and President with negotiating satisfactory resolutions of terms and conditions of client (owner) contracts.
Subcontractor and Vendor Contracts
Accountable for developing and updating internal contract templates including master subcontracts, purchase orders, contractual notice templates, etc.
Accountable for negotiating subcontractor master service agreements.
Accountable for ensuring subcontractor and vendor notices follow the requirements of their respective contract documents.
Accountable for supporting the Director of Purchasing, appropriate Operations Executives, COO, and President with the satisfactory resolution of legal issues contained in subcontractor and vendor terms and conditions.
Responsible for managing the Director of Purchasing and associated department employees.
Responsible for driving shared service process to support our Operations Executives and project teams in resolving issues with subcontractors throughout the life of a subcontract.
Responsible for assisting project team with problem subcontractors, notices to cure/ default notices.
Personal Injury Claims Management
Accountable for supporting the Senior Risk Insurance Manager, CFO, and outside counsel on personal injury claims to satisfactorily mitigate company risks.
Responsible for managing the Senior Risk Insurance Manager and any associated department employees.
Pike Development Services
Responsible for supporting corporate Pike Development Services deals and activities as directed.
General
Accountable for managing the professional development of assigned direct reports and associated department employees.
Accountable for assessing, minimizing and/or prevention of all company risks and potential losses.
Accountable for oversight and direction related to any legal filings i.e., summons/complaints, liens and other legal actions received or asserted.
Accountable for all state license registrations maintenance, updates, filings, etc.
Responsible to retain and manage outside counsel on all legal matters.
Responsible to review legal bills from outside counsel for compliance with terms of engagement.
Responsible to establish and oversee compliance with internal governance polices.
Responsible to monitor and advise on updates to laws and regulations relevant to the industry.
Responsible for travel as business dictates and ability to accommodate a flexible schedule to meet workload needs.
Responsible for performing other responsibilities/duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Juris Doctorate with New York State Board Certified preferred.
Ten years of relevant construction and/or legal experience with demonstrated depth and specialized knowledge in one or more fields of law or construction management relevant to the needs of the industry or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and experience required.
Knowledge:

For this Rochester, New York based position, the expected base salary is $150000-$250000. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance and business needs.
