Scanning Tech (GC I)
This position supports the U.S. Dept. of Justice – Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR). The primary responsibility for this position is to support the effort of converting paper documents to digital formats. Tasks include but are not limited to all activities required to scan the documents such as preparing documents for scanning, operating document scanning equipment, perform quality control, document reassembly, and document printing.
Hourly Wage (non-negotiable): $15.92 + $4.23 Health & Welfare
Work Shift: 7:30a – 4:00p (this is not a remote position – 100% onsite position)
Duties and responsibilities:
Review and prepare files and documents by following established scanning and quality control procedures based on project requirements/instructions.
Verify that hard copy documents are prepared for scanning by removing fasteners, staples, paper clips, rubber bands, and folds.
Perform quality review of the prepared records prior to scanning.
Scan paper documents using scanning equipment.
Review the scanned document images to verify that all pages within the documents were captured accurately and completely. Perform rescan to correct poor quality images.
Verify that the disassembled documents are bound back together and put back in their corresponding files/folders.
Ensure documents are not destroyed, lost, or mishandled.
Convert cassette tapes from analog to digital.
Sort and keep work areas stocked and organized.
Operate and perform routine maintenance on basic office equipment like printers, scanners, photocopiers, tape recorders/duplicators.
Inventory, maintain and file project related data.
Lift and move boxes/bins of up to 50 lbs.
May occasionally be required to assist with courier/driver duties.
Perform other related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to successfully complete an extensive government background check and drug screen.
Must possess adequate communication skills including the ability to read and write basic correspondence.
One or more years of mailroom or scanning or general office experience.
Document scanning experience preferred but not needed.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Must possess basic computer skills.
Demonstrate ability to pay attention to detail.
Must be able to assess work product for errors and quality.
Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, as required.
Ability to work at a constant pace to meet production goals (quotas) and adhering to quality standards.
Must have reliable attendance/transportation.
Experience driving a compact van a plus.
