Body Imaging Fellowship at Denver Health
Denver Health is proud to offer a one-year comprehensive breast imagingfellowship. We offer outstanding training with a wide range of clinical casesand imaging modalities in a supportive educational environment. All radiologyattendings hold academic appointments at the University of Colorado School ofMedicine (a separate, but affiliated institution) and are activelyinvolved in teaching students, residents, and fellows.
Our mission is to provide an excellent educational experience for our fellowscovering all aspects of body imaging. All radiology attendings are activelyinvolved in a variety of educational activities. We offer the full spectrum ofstate-of-the-art imaging at our 7-story outpatient imaging facility and in our550-bed main in-patient tower which includes a Level 1 trauma center. Both ofthese facilities are located on the main campus in the heart of downtownDenver. Graduating fellows will receive the necessary training and resourcesto excel in either academic or private practice settings following completionof the program.
The Organization
Denver Health is an integrated, efficient, academic safety net health caresystem and considered a model for the region and the nation. As Colorado'sprimary safety net institution, Denver Health provides care to one third ofDenver's residents at our main campus located at the heart of downtownDenver and our network of community health centers and school-based healthclinics. The most recent addition is our 7-story 293,000 square footoutpatient medical center opened in spring of 2021 on the same campus as ourinpatient hospital with a total 555 adult, pediatric, and OB/GYN beds.
Denver Health is well known for its world-renowned Level 1 Trauma Center andhas one of the highest survival rates in the country. The trauma center sees18,000 patients annually, resulting in 2,700 admissions and many arriveas transfers from 60 regional hospitals for higher level care.
The scope of our medical services extends well beyond trauma care. We offerthe full spectrum of medical services from primary to specialized oncologiccare, which continue to grow with our new outpatient facility.
Modalities
As a breast imaging fellow, you will receive in-depth training in allaspects of breast imaging in MRI, CT, US, X-ray, and fluoroscopic exams.
MRI - The fellow will be trained in interpreting and protocoling a broadspectrum of body MRI, including the following: hepatobiliary (includingEovist and iron deposition protocols); pancreatic/MRCP; adrenal;renal; gastrointestinal (including MR enterography and rectal cancer);male genitourinary (including MR urography, prostate, and penile);obstetric/gynecologic (including endometriosis, endometrial cancer,cervical cancer, pelvic floor dysfunction, pregnancy); MRangiography; and cancer-syndrome whole body screening. CT - The fellow will be comprehensively trained in emergency, inpatient,and outpatient imaging, including vascular imaging and dual energy. Forthose interested, cardiac CT training is also available, predominatelymade up of coronary CTAs.
Ultrasound - The fellow will be trained in a wide variety of general bodyultrasound, including liver elastography. The fellow will also receivetraining in first trimester obstetric, pediatric, and musculoskeletalultrasound.
PET/CT - The fellow will interpret oncologic FDG PET studies, as wellstudies using novel radiotracers for prostate cancer (PSMA) andneuroendocrine tumors (DOTATATE).
Fluoroscopy - The fellow will perform and interpret standard gastrointestinaland genitourinary studies, including upper GIs, esophagrams, modifiedbarium swallows, barium enemas, retrograde urethrograms, andhysterosalpingogra
Image Guided Nonvascular Procedures - Interventional body procedures areoffered as an optional part of fellowship training depending on fellowpreference.
