Hours: Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM
Purpose:
Pull, file, and distribute patient charts.
Responsibilities:
Comply with all UPMC and Presbyterian/Shadyside policies and procedures.
Maintain charts by purging, updating and tab punching.
Document all fees that should be billed to parties requesting records. Work with billing staff to assure bills are issued.
Use computerized systems to track chart inquires and to access other pertinent information.
Obtain consent for medical records.
File medical histories and other information in patient charts in a timely manner and in accordance with department guidelines.
Copy, scan and fax medical records.
Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
Locate and send charts to requesting physicians/departments.
Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Ability to file alphabetically and numerically. 1 year medical records experience preferred.
