Description: Overview:
The Industrial Controls Technician reports to the Plant Maintenance ControlsSupervisor.At Leprino Foods, starting compensation for this role typically rangesbetween $29 and $32.40 per hour.
The environment at the Fort Morgan plant is a production-focused operationusing highly technical, constantly changing state-of-the-art equipment andmethods. The facility is expected to operate at maximum efficiency 350+ rundays per year and 18-20 hours of production time per day. This challenges theincumbent to complete scheduled work within tight time deadlines andtroubleshoot, identify and solve real time problems on demand.
The Industrial Controls Technician is responsible for assisting the ControlsSupervisor in the selection, installation, programming, documentation,training and knowledge of all plant industrial controls. They are alsoresponsible for all computer integration of PLC s, HMI s and processcontrols within the facility. The Industrial Controls Technician isresponsible for training of end users on the operations of newly installed ormodified process or control systems. They are responsible for standardizationof control systems and control logic designs, documentation of operationalprocedures and as-built drawings and logic. They will be the plant liaison fornew system start up and commissioning by all outside controls contractors andsystem integrators to insure proper transfer of documented PLC programschanges and adequate training on the installation/changes that have been comple
The Industrial Controls Technician is responsible for following up on controlwork that has been done by Maintenance Technicians. They will assist introubleshooting of control and instrumentation equipment problems, and makerepairs to equipment that is at fault and not part of the control system.
Some of the challenges in this position include reducing downtime with theupdating of PLC logic and developing diagnostic tools with the data availablethrough the controls; understanding the systems and keeping abreast of newtechnology to recommend upgrades that will reduce or eliminate problems;monitor and recommend adequate controls spare parts inventory; keepingcontrol documentation up to date, and being available for off shift support.
Performance in this position can be measured by the timely completion ofwork, minimizing of machine downtime, development and utilization ofdiagnostic data for preventative maintenance, and thoroughness of new systemdesigns and installations.
Knowledge and skills required to perform this position include generalknowledge of industrial operations, working knowledge of various equipmentand plant processes to understand, interpret and schedule work orders;strong technical and electrical aptitude (i.e., electronic controls,process controls, instrumentation, data networks, HMI systems, controland HMI software). The incumbent will be required to assess hardware andsoftware and time requirements necessary for capital projects commissioning
Responsibilities:
The Industrials Technician will be required to interface with the followingpersonnel for proper completion of his daily duties.1. Coordinate projects with other plants and Engineering/Controls Specialists.2. Support Plant Operators, Mechanics, Peers and Management.3. Interact with Vendors, Suppliers and Systems Integrators.4. Work with Plant ISS Supervisors.5. Work with Corporate controls technician.
Principal AccountabilitiesWeight1. Act as a resource to production and maintenance in problem solving andtroubleshooting operational activities to reduce downtime related to controlproble s.30%2. Calibrate all plant instrumentation in a wide variety of makes and typesof specifications (i.e., temperature, flow, pH, vacuum,pressure, Foxboro, Honeywell, Taylor, Endress Hauser, Anderson, etc.).20%3. Work with industrial electricity (motor controls) to troubleshoot andrepair electrical components and machinery including 480 VAC,220 VAC, 24 VDC, and other plant systems.15%4. Complete preventive maintenance work orders.15%5. Program/design P.C. programs for existing plant systems and capabilityof reconstruction and/or updating programs.10%
