Overview
This client is an industry leading formulary company focused on sterilizing compounds. In this role you’ll be working with a small team to participate in new product development, develop chemical testing procedures required and maintain quality control/assurance of existing products in compliance with internal and regulatory requirements, while developing new and clean products for the global community.
Responsibilities:
Utilizes and maintains laboratory equipment including pH meters, refractometers, BYK viscometer, scales, and mixers. identifies problems when equipment fails and conducts or recommends repairs.
Inspects, maintains, organizes and tests batch samples/tickets according to established QC standards and/or EPA standards
Assists in modifying and improving production methods to meet proper QC standards
Review incoming raw materials and tag with internal RM number to ensure batch makers will identify the correct material they need.
Identifies product inconsistencies and investigates root causes and assists in managing and approving raw materials purchased from suppliers.
Responsible for preparing monthly waste water samples and reporting requirements for sewer discharge permit.
Pro-actively identifies changes in regulations and policies, keeps up to date with advances in technology.
Researches, creates, develops, and tests compounds and formulas used in products, exercising professional judgment in the evaluation, selection, and modification of applied methods and techniques.
Identifies and recommends improvements to maintain quality, cost-effectiveness, safety compliance, and other parameters.
Collaborates with management, production and other department to draft standard operating procedures and safety materials.
Assists with environmental health and safety standards including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemical agents.
Maintains knowledge of federal, state, local, and organizational best practices and environmental health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field required.
Minimum of three years of related work experience as a formulary chemist; preferably in cleaning supplies.
Excellent mathematical skills.
Thorough understanding of chemical tests and processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to draft laboratory reports.
Strong communication skills and ability to interface with sales staff and customers
