MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of supervisory experience in engineering, building construction, construction or maintenance of highways, buildings or bridges, fleet vehicle and/or aircraft maintenance and repair or fixed base maintenance and repair operations.
Experience in engineering, building construction, construction or maintenance of highways, buildings or bridges, fleet vehicle and/or aircraft maintenance and repair or fixed based maintenance and repair operations can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
NOTE: ALL POSITIONS WITHIN THIS CLASS REQUIRE POSSESSION OF A VALID DRIVER LICENSE.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional to moderate travel required.
Position may respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or other type incidents requiring travel, as needed.
JOB DUTIES:
This administrative position is responsible for the implementation and direction of all services provided by the Maintenance Section, related to support of all facility and equipment programs in the Tallahassee Forestry Center.
Directs and administers the construction and maintenance of all roads and bridges on all State Forests within the Tallahassee Center. Supervises the Road Crew Forestry Supervisor II responsible for Center-wide road and bridge maintenance and construction. Ensures proper hydrological function on state forests associated with road construction including culverts, low-water crossings, erosion control features, etc.
Directs and administers the preventative maintenance and repair program for motorized equipment and support equipment assigned to the Tallahassee Forestry Center. Supervises the Automotive Equipment Maintenance Superintendent who is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all motorized equipment assigned to the Tallahassee Forestry Center.
Directs and administers the construction, maintenance and repair of facilities and fixed improvements within the Tallahassee Forestry Center, including, but not limited to, residences, fire towers, maintenance shops, administrative buildings, well and radio houses, recreation structures and heating/cooling systems.
Supervises the planning, bidding and construction of fixed capital outlay (FCO) projects including preparation of blueprints, schedules of values and budget records.
Responsible and accountable for managing budget/dollars/resources (staff, vehicles, computers, cell phones, etc.) of any assigned programs in an efficient and accountable manner. Responsible for ensuring that assigned program areas have operational procedures and processes which result in accountability and compliance with Florida Forest Service and department policies and procedures.
Supervises the Property Specialist responsible for property management, inventory and record keeping.
Supervises the Telecommunications Specialist III who is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of radios and the repair and maintenance of the telephone system assigned to the Tallahassee Forestry Center. This includes radios assigned to state firefighting equipment as well as those under lease to local volunteer fire departments. Also, responsible for the inventory of radios.
Directs and administers the inmate program within the Tallahassee Forestry Center. This includes developing monthly schedules for inmate projects, preparing annual FFS/DOC Agreements and providing support equipment for inmate crews.
Performs other related work as assigned.
