The Trial Court Administrator, Sandra Barrios, oversees all administrative responsibilities of the Fourth Judicial District. This includes responsibility for facilities management; serving as a liaison between agencies, the media, and the public; and developing and carrying out policies that enhance court system performance.

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY
This position conducts forensic parenting time evaluations and serves as an expert witness to provide information to family law judges in high-conflict custody, divorce, and domestic violence cases. Responsibilities also include conducting family law case screenings and creating brief focused assessments to assist with the potential for alternative dispute resolution options for families. This position serves as a valuable resource to families as it conducts co-parenting workshops, conflict resolution, provides recommendations, resources, education and consultation regarding the needs of children to parents in conflict. The position is located in the Ada County Fourth Judicial District Court, Family Court Services office.
Essential Functions
Conducts forensic parenting time evaluations consistent with Idaho Rules of Family Law Procedure 719 including investigation, providing a detailed report and court testimony;
Conducts family law case screenings to determine the potential for alternative dispute resolution options for families;
Provides resources to parties in civil court;
Facilitates current co-parenting workshops;
Offers information related to child development, such as age appropriate schedules and the effect of conflict on children;
Identifies and resolves blocks to negotiating a parenting plan;
Provides instruction on developmental needs and age appropriate parenting schedules;
Supervises the work of and mentors interns;
Presents educational material to community agencies regarding children's needs and developmental issues.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs research on related material to assessments, i.e. impact of conflict on children;
Assists in classes as needed;
Reviews files for the family law judges;
Calculates child support;
Provides information for pro se parents pertaining to the civil court process and other paperwork necessary in their divorce or custody cases;
Assists in basic office support such as answering the phones and compiling data as requested;
Performs other court-related duties as required;
Demonstrates commitment to public service.
Job Requirements
A Master's degree from an accredited university in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy or a related field from an accredited college or university, required;
A minimum of three years' experience working with families and individuals in crisis, preferred;
Current licensure within the State of Idaho; LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, licensed social worker preferred, or licensed professional counselor;
Idaho Supreme Court recognized custody mediator preferred;
Knowledge of how to prepare for and give testimony at deposition and/or at trial;
Knowledge of how to research and consider professional standards, laws, and rules;
Skill in the facilitation and presentation to small and large groups;
Skill in developing trust, confidence, and cooperation of persons;
Ability to understand and comply with Idaho Rules of Family Law Procedure 719: Parenting Time Evaluation;
Ability to understand and comply with the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts Model Standards of Practice for Child Custody Evaluations, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, or the American Psychological Association Guidelines for Child Custody Evaluations in Family Law Proceedings;
Ability to understand and comply with the Idaho Rules of Family Law Procedure 720: Brief Focused Assessments;
Ability to independently plan and manage work assignments, work timelines, and work completion;
Ability to exercise professional judgment;
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively;
Ability to write reports clearly documenting relevant facts and conclusions;
Ability to maintain confidentiality;
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationship with employees, county officials, and the public.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent may be required to work beyond normal business hours in order to meet the requirements of the court, attend meetings or make presentations;
The incumbent is subject to a criminal history check.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;
May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.;
Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
