Des Moines Public Schools is seeking a Food Service ClerkJob Summary:Assist students and staff for food services, including food preparation; setting up; washing and sanitizing dishes and working surfaces. Collect payment and enter data into computer as students and staff move through line. Accountable for all meals.Successful candidates for this position will possess:Experience as food service employee with the District or another significant food service facility, ability to organize work under supervisor's direction, an acceptable attendance record, no discipline on file and a meets evaluation. Must be willing to learn to operate Newton POS computer system, all types of ovens and the Inventory Management system.Please see attached job description for further information on functions of the position along with educational and experience requirements. Hiring requirements:Qualifying applicants must successfully complete a skills assessment in order to be considered for the position.Position Details:Multiple locations available Salary:$15.29

Bid Criteria – Lateral/Promotion for Non-Lead Positions: Lateral transfers within the same job classification of a promotion will be awarded upon consideration of the following criteria applied for the period of 12 months prior to the posting date of the position for full-time employees and part-time employees hired by September 30th that work the academic year:
Employees: must be through the probationary period AND meet the Bid Criteria-Lateral/Promotion for Non-Lead positions.
Bidders: must meet all posted qualifications for the position.
Attendance: Sick leave standard is as follows:
Employees must have ten (10) days or fewer of family/personal sick leave.
Sick leave will be calculated based on the 12 previous months from the posting date for full-time employees (see criteria above for part-time employees).
All authorized FMLA leave (paid or unpaid) will be taken off the record for the purpose of the bid process.
All authorized Worker’s Comp. (paid or unpaid) will be taken off the record for the purpose of the bid process.
COVID related leave will be considered on a case-by-case basis including validation of formal documentation at the time of the illness.
Full-time employees must not have any “no call/no show” incidents during the past 12 months from the posting date (see criteria above for part time).
Full -time employees must not have any unauthorized time during the past 12 months from the posting date (see criteria for part-time).
Full-time employees must be in active paid status since the beginning of the posting (see criteria above for part-time).
Exceptions will be considered by the Director of Personnel.
Evaluation: Composite score of “meets” or better on most recent evaluation. All staff must have one evaluation on file.
Discipline: No formal discipline during the past 12 months from the date for full-time employees (see criteria above for part-time).
Seniority: If two or more employees have relatively equal qualifications, the employee with seniority within the department will be given consideration.
