　　The Food Systems Research Center (FSRC) seeks a data scientist to leadthe development of data infrastructure, management, analysis, andvisualization for a vibrant, growing, transdisciplinary research center.The FSRC is the first research center focused on food systems formed incollaboration with the US Department of Agricultures AgriculturalResearch Service (ARS). Focused on finding solutions to our mostpressing global challenges through food systems, the FSRC funds researchwithin and beyond UVM exploring sustainability, resilience, and equityin small and medium food systems across the Northeast US. The inauguraldata scientist will help develop the data management and infrastructuresystems to enable transdisciplinary research collaborations, sharing ofdata with public entities and partners, and coordinate across governmentand academic platforms. The data scientist will also work with researchteams and original data to develop data ontologies for transdisciplinaryresearch, as well as data analyses and visualizations for academic andpublic audiences. We especially seek candidates who have experienceworking across disciplines, with varying data types and people ofdifferent backgrounds and experiences, and in team science efforts. Thedata scientist will join a dedicated team at the FSRC who help fosterfood systems work within and beyond the university, in partnership withNortheast partners. Masters degree in data science, complex systems,statistics or a related field, and four years of related data scienceexperience and advanced knowledge of multiple data systems, includingprogramming (e.g. Python, R) and database development systems (e.g.MySQL) required.
