Job Title: Focused Theatre Registered Veterinary Nurse
Salary: Starting salary from £28,000 - £31,000 DOE, plus £3,000 on call supplement.

Hours: Monday- Friday with a variety of shifts. Working 1:9 weekends on call for surgical emergencies and a share of week nights on call plus a share of bank holidays shifts through out the year.

Your role and responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic RVN to join our vibrant Theatre team working in our busy, purpose-built centre that is fully equipped with the surgical equipment and diagnostic facilities commensurate with a flagship specialist veterinary hospital.
You will have excellent all-round nursing skills, with a passion and drive for delivering outstanding patient care. You will be a team player who enjoys working in a supportive working environment, whilst also being able to use your initiative and challenge the status quo. A keen interest in theatre practice and surgical nursing is essential.
Referral nursing experience is not necessary, as a full theatre induction will be provided.
As a theatre nurse you will be involved with patients undergoing complex surgical procedures, from thoracotomies to total hip replacements. As you progress there will also be opportunity to gain experience with interventional cardiac surgeries with the use of fluoroscopy and to be involved with our open heart surgery programme, therefore providing a varied and interesting theatre caseload.
We are keen to help people expand their knowledge in areas that interest them, and to support professional development. As a Theatre Nurse there will be the option for you to develop your skills with extensive in-house opportunities from DWR and Linnaeus alongside support for external CPD.
There is scope to improve leadership abilities by becoming a mentor to our brilliant team of Patient Care Assistants and Student Veterinary Nurses.
Responsibilities:
Ensure highest level of patient care is provided
Demonstrate the DWR values of Excellence, Trust and Care in their daily work by maintaining a professional and committed approach.
Work and communicate effectively with clients and associates.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures at all times to include but not limited to; clinical tasks, patient restraint, H&S and infection control policies.
Providing nursing care and preparation for patients undergoing their surgical procedures
Performing in the circulating and scrubbed assistant roles during surgeries.
Providing support to the whole surgical team including anaesthesia, there is good opportunity for future development in this area if desired.
Always striving to improve clinical practice, following the practice’s Vetsafe reporting system.
Completion of patient safety checklists and recovery care plans.
Invoicing of surgical procedures.
Support of SVNs during their departmental rotations.
Hours
Working an average of 1:9 weekends on call with compensatory time off provided for this. A share of weeknights on call and bank holidays throughout the year.
40 hour working week Monday-Friday, 5 x 8 hour shifts or 4 x 10 hour shifts between 8am-7pm, part-time hours would also be considered.
