Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth's orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space.As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will work on the design, analysis, development, and qualification of pressurized liquid and gas systems on a reusable launch vehicle in extreme environments from cryogenic to hot gas temperatures. You will share the team's impact on all aspects of detailed mechanical design, requirements, layouts, analysis, component selection, modeling, drafting, manufacturing, and test definition. To be successful in this position, you will have proven skills in mechanical design, fluid/thermal analysis, structural analysis, material selection, manufacturing processes, engineering release, component/system development testing, and vendor management.We are looking for someone at the senior engineer level to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent5+ years of proven experience in the design of aerospace fluid or mechanical systems (Senior Career)Experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred)Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to analyze pressurized systems and secondary structures (ANSYS preferred)Proficiency in crafting engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)Proven understanding of fluid components such as valves, tubing, and pressurized hardwareAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalentExperience designing systems with Hydrogen, Oxygen, Methane and Nitrogen in liquid and/or gaseous statesExperience with thermo-fluid solver applications Thermal Desktop (Sinda Fluint), AFT (Fathom/Arrow), Excel-based models, REFPROPProven understanding of materials properties and treatmentsHands-on experience building and testing mechanical assemblies or pressurized components/systemsSolid understanding of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control techniques relevant to tubes, machined components, and welded hardware.Compensation range for on site WA applicants is$111,690---$156,366 USDInclusivity StatementDon't meet all desired requirements?
