Responsibilities Serves as a Fitness Facility Manager directing and supervising diverse functions required to operate a fitness facility up to 89,447 SQ FT. Works under the direction of the Chief, Fitness, Athletics, and Aquatics. Supervises, oversees management and operation of Fitness Facility. Establishes employee work schedules, performance objectives/appraisals. Oversees facility cleanliness, contracts, standard operating procedures. Participates in Recreation Delivery System process. Continually assesses facility requirements, develops plans, specifications for projects to augment or replace fitness/sports facilities. Coordinates with management meeting goals and objectives. Assists in the development of budgetary and manpower requirements and recommends adjustments due to changes in program demands or hours of operation. Maximizes facility usage for both organized functions and individual development. Assists in the development, reviews specifications for instructors and contracts. Monitors contractor performance, extending or terminating contracts as warranted, in conjunction with NAF Contracting and approves payments. Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Works with fitness facility staff to recommend purchase/construction of equipment and facilities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Possesses directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports. 2. Experience that includes the demonstrated ability to manage and operate complex multiple fitness facilities. 3. The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. HIGHLY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: 1. 1 year of experience with personnel management (recruitment, selection and appraisals). 2. 1 year of experience managing 6 or more employees 3. 1 year planning, administration and execution of a NAF and/or APF budget 4. 6 months experience with RecTrac and ACCRO.
