　　Job Description

　　FISCAL OFFICER, Brain and Cognitive Sciences (BCS), to provide complex and detailed pre- and post-award research administration for a group of faculty in a dynamic academic neuroscience department. Will administer the preparation, review, and submission of complex budgets and/or grant proposals to federal, foundation, and other research sponsors; administer ongoing sponsored research activity to ensure compliance with complex sponsor requirements, agency and award terms and conditions, and MIT policy; administer no-cost extensions, revised budgets, closeouts, etc.; provide principal investigators (PIs) with quarterly (or more often) financial updates of their BCS-managed research and non-research accounts to ensure accurate distribution of funds; advise PIs, other faculty, researchers, and staff on matters pertaining to research administration, including allowable costs; escalate complex matters to management; review and approve charges, reimbursements, and other transactions to research accounts; verify accuracy and allowability; perform financial review and control of research accounts; prepare and distribute financial reports, summaries, analyses, forecasts, and assessments that enable the senior fiscal officer and department leadership to effectively understand and manage research-related finances; and participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned. 　　Job Requirements

　　REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; five years’ relevant experience with federal grants and contracts and/or financial administration in a nonprofit organization; proficiency with Microsoft Office; excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills; attention to detail; and ability to work independently. Must enjoy working in a challenging environment with people at all levels. PREFERRED: knowledge of enterprise financial systems, grants management tools, and multidimensional databases; and MIT research administration experience. Job #23621-81/18/24
