Job Details The Fireman is responsible for tending boiler or boilers, maintaining correct boiler pressure and safe water level. Assists in cleaning boilers and lubrication of equipment. Responsibilities: · Maintains basic boiler room records. · Adds whatever chemicals required for boiler and fuel oil tanks. · Changes gun or boiler or boilers whenever needed. · Takes hourly readings on steam, oil, water, air and an all air conditioner equipment · Checks oil and grease cups on all equipment in the power house and checks water makeup tanks and hot water circulating pumps. · Cleans and changes fuel oil strainers on all oil lines, front and rear of boilers. · Replaces and tightens packing glands on any valve, water glass or any equipment that may be leaking. · Runs diesel generator and air compressor weekly to ensure they are in good operating conditions. · Works with Power Plant foreman to clean and recondition boilers for inspection. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years' experience on high pressure steam boilers · NYS Driver's License Salary Range USD $27.00 - USD $34.00 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
