Fire Alarm Designer/Project Coordinator - Mid to Senior Level

Job Description:Use CAD equipment to prepare moderate/complex layouts of fire alarm systems.Prepare detailed drawings, calculations, assembly drawings, sketches,and diagrams. Details to include all views and dimensions necessary forefficient field installation and AHJ approval. Prepare submittals and obtainpermits. Make decisions of high complexity, review questions fromentry/mid-level designers and refer questions/problems tosupervisors/management as needed. Demonstrate an exceptional understandingof design/drafting techniques, experience with fire alarm and electronicterminology, construction sequencing, and ability to complete mathematicalcalc
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Design Responsibilities:Develop shop drawings, battery calculations, and equipment lists with afocus on applicable NFPA/local/state code compliance, projectspecifications/contract documents, and efficient and cost effective fieldinstaComplete accurate field surveys when needed.Coordinate shop drawings with End Users, Electrical Contractors, MEPteams, General Contractors, installation subcontractors etc. utilizingNavisWorks etc. where applicable.Develop submittal packages for AHJ, Contractors, etc. Obtain all requiredapprovals.
Project Coordination Responsibilities:Purchase material, buy out subcontracts, generate RFIs, prepare andmaintain project schedules. Assist with change order pricing, negotiation,and review.Communicate with field personnel, AHJ's, customers, sales reps, andfield superintendents.Retain full project responsibility for approvals, material procurement,coordination, schedule, and design budgets.Attend all project related meetings.Perform other job duties as required.
Key Skills and Capabilities:Ability to read and intrepret construction documents (drawings,specifications, ASIs, etc.).Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude.Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), AutoCAD.Working knowledge of battery calculations, generating bills of material,project design, and project management. Abilty to review and approve workproduct of other design team members.Practical experience designing Fire Alarm, VoiceStrong familiarity with electrical contractors and general constructionpractices and terms.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Comfortable negotiating with customers, vendors, etc.Organized, detail oriented, self starter able to operate in a team enviroment.Working knowledge of NFPA 72, 70, 101 and associated Codes/Standards.Notifer FA equipment design experience a big plus.Experience with "turn key" FA installation projects a big plus.B.D.A, security, special hazard systems (e.g clean agent, VESDA)design experience a plus.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent, postsecondary education preferred.5 Years (7-10+ years preferred) experience in Fire Alarm Design &Project CoordinationExperience with Revit, NavisWorks a plus.NICET II (min). NICET III, NICET IV or PE (preferred).
