Job Description:
The Development Operations Organization is seeking a talented and passionate engineer to join the Advanced Measurements Research & Development team. In this role the candidate would extend Pratt & Whitney’s optical diagnostic capabilities and integrate these capabilities into test rigs and engines. The candidate is expected to work closely with module centers and advanced programs to develop funding strategies to support instrumentation and test methodologies during engine development programs. The candidate will also assist with the transfer of advanced measurement techniques from universities and government programs, while developing P&W’s test stand capabilities to support these techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Empowered to independently execute and support discrete tasks with strategic guidance from senior engineers and fellows.
Support tasks from initial requirements through preliminary design, system development, integration, validation, and test execution.
Participate on multi-disciplinary teams to provide measurement solutions that balance customer requirements, validation testing (engine & rig) and data recording and reduction.
Coordinate with others to advance the technology and improve engineering standard work processes.
Develop outside funding opportunities for technology development for university and Pratt & Whitney
Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship
Basic Qualifications:
Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical engineering degree from an ABET accredited school in any of the following combinations: Bachelor’s degree with 5 Years of engineering experience or a Masters with 3 years engineering experience or a PHD with an expected graduation date prior to February 2025
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Minimum GPA of 3.5
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in experimental design and advanced filter Rayleigh scattering measurements
Background in Optical Engineering
Experience in MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, and SolidWorks
Travel: Less than 25%

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
