Description

Robert Half is looking for an experienced FinOps Data Analyst to join our client and play a critical role in optimizing cloud costs. As a FinOps expert, you will leverage your unique blend of technical knowledge and financial acumen to identify areas for cost reduction and implement strategies to achieve maximum value from cloud investments. This is a remote Contract-to-hire role to support a Software company!

In this role you will:

Conduct in-depth analysis of cloud usage data across various cloud service providers (CSPs) to identify cost optimization opportunities. This analysis should go beyond basic usage metrics and delve into the technical specifics of resource utilization.

Deep dive into technical configurations of cloud resources (e.g. EC2 instances, Azure VMs, GCP Compute Engine, GCP GKE) to identify opportunities for rightsizing and optimization. Analyze resource utilization patterns and identify underutilized resources that can be scaled down or shut off.

Collaborate with engineering teams to understand application workloads and recommend cloud services that are best suited for the task while being mindful of budget. This may involve recommending specific storage solutions (e.g., object storage vs. block storage) or database technologies based on performance and cost considerations.

Requirements

Must Haves:

Experience with cloud automation and software development (2+ years)

In-depth knowledge of FinOps principles and best practices (certification preferred)

Solid understanding of major cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their pricing structures

Experience with the technical configuration and management of cloud resources (e.g., EC2 instances, Azure VMs, GCP Compute Engine, GCP GKE)

Strong ability to collaborate with multiple different business teams and make recommendations to stakeholders and partners
