Duties vary depending on the growing season:
March - July
Prune dormant cane, using pruning shears.
Reposition support wires, for vines, by removing clips; cutting andmoving wires, and securing in new
positions.
Tie vines to lead wires on trellises, using florist tape, in order toposition and/or train new growth.
Remove shoots and excess fruit, by hand, to reduce crop yield andenhance quality.
Remove lowest leaves, by hand, from vertical shoots to enhance exposureto direct sunlight.
Fertilize grape vines
August - December
Harvest grapes by hand or hand shears.
The work may entail exposure to plant pollens, insects, snakes, rodents,noxious plants and/or plant materials that have been treated with insectand/or disease control sprays. The Company will comply with all workerprotection standards and
restrictions applicable to pesticides and other chemicals. Workers arealso required to comply with all applicable worker protection standardsas communicated by forepersons, supervisors, and managers.
Daily individual work assignments will be made by, and at the solediscretion of, the Company as the needs of the harvesting operationdictate. Workers must perform the assigned work, and work at theassigned crew/field site, and may not switch assignments or crew/fieldsite without the specific authorization of a company supervisor. Workersmay be re-assigned to a different workstation at various times duringthe workday and/or on different days.
