　　Job Summary

　　We are currently seeking a Social Scientist III–Technical Writer/Editor . (This is a contingent position subject to further review.) This position is located on site with our client in Edgewood, MD .

　　Battelle provides the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM CBC) Technical Releases Office (TRO) with broad science writing and editing support. The position is currently hybrid, although this is subject to change. Prospective candidates will work onsite at DEVCOM CBC in Edgewood at least two days per week. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-career professional to gain experience editing diverse subjects in chemistry, biology, and engineering for the nation’s principal research and development resource for nonmedical chem-bio defense.

　　Responsibilities

　　Preparing, reviewing, and editing articles, technical reports, manuscripts, annual reports, and special studies;

　　Tracking report production and approvals using DEVCOM CBC’s proprietary system;

　　Maintaining familiarity with relevant DOD regulations and editing accordingly;

　　Providing QA support to other DEVCOM CBC technical writer/editors and receiving QA feedback on your own editing work;

　　Interfacing with scientists and engineers;

　　Liaising with DEVCOM CBC Security to ensure documents have proper distribution markings and disclosure statements;

　　Sharing best practices for scientific communication with DEVCOM CBC personnel.

　　Key Qualifications

　　Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;

　　Background in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM);

　　More than 5 years’ experience editing or writing STEM-based original research materials such as reports, journal articles, etc.;

　　Proficiency discussing STEM-based subjects with scientists, engineers, and decision-makers;

　　Proficiency in the application of the American Chemical Society style guide;

　　Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet Explorer, and Adobe Acrobat; and

　　U.S. Citizen with a current DOD SECRET clearance.

　　References or previous work examples are required.
