Day to Day
Performing field inspections and investigations by collecting high quality and accurate data.
Manhole Inspections - record various structure attributes and identify defects.
Smoke Testing - conduct smoke tests and record defects encountered.
Night Flow Isolations - measure wastewater flows during non-peak usage.
Dye Testing - conduct dye water tracing and dye water flooding.
Flow Monitoring - install & maintain open channel flow metering equipment.
Conduct robotic video inspections of wastewater sewer pipelines in accordance to NASSCO PACP, MACP, and LACP standards.
This position requires a lot of walking outside and climbing ladders year-round through various terrain and in extreme heat and cold.
Ability to work in Confined Spaces, including sanitary sewer manholes.
90% of the work is overnight travel vs. local work. Travel consists of 2-3 weeks at a time (mobilize on Monday, stay through 1-2 weekends, home for the weekend, then back on the road. They will try to keep the technicians close to home if there is enough work.
Out of town travel pays for hotel and per diem, plus they usually work about 5-10 hours more when traveling.
Technicians meet at the Norfolk office and depart in company vehicles. They are paid for travel time (to and from the office OR to and from the hotel if out of town).
Technicians will start out as the second person on the crew, working alongside an experienced tech who can give direction and provide oversite.
They work with various types of hand tools and electronic equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Confined Space Entry certification.
Basic computer skills.
Good technical skills
Valid drivers license.
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS and/or Trimble Products is preferred.
Previous SSES experience preferred
