Kwest Field Support Laborer Position Description
Position: Field Support Laborer
Report to: Equipment Operations Manager
Job Description Overview
The Field Support Laborer will be tasked with ensuring all Kwest field personnel are supplied and are utilizing small tools efficiently. This individual will also assist the Kwest mechanics with delivery of parts and the logistics of getting the parts to the job sites so that repairs on equipment can be done quickly to limit down time. The ideal candidate must be able to perform the duties required including bending, lifting, walking, kneeling, carrying heavy objects and accommodate the rigorous schedule the position may demand. In addition, basic knowledge of equipment operating will be required as part of the equipment troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
Repair and maintain small tools
Manage the small tool inventory in a neat and organized fashion
Travel to and from the various job sites as needed, including overnight stays and out of town travel.
Drive, clean and maintain the company truck
Assist mechanics with picking up and delivery parts
Assisting the mechanics with services and repairs as needed
Any other duties as requested.
Education and Qualifications
Operate heavy equipment
The ability to handle a variety of situations and change priorities
Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the company
Basic computer skills
Accurate record keeping
Regularly required to stand, sit and move about the facility.
Regularly required to drive and negotiate various job sites, which can include climbing on/off equipment, ladders, etc.
Work under minimal supervision
Willing to travel and stay out of town as needed
Must possess ability to communicate with all field personnel including Superintendents, Crew Leads and Foremen.
Health & Safety regulations and procedures including proper lifting techniques.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and organized work habits allowing unsupervised work.
A commitment to the concept of "doing it right the first time"
Working Conditions
Travel from site to site will be required. Work environment will normally be an active construction site. Exposure to dust, noise, high heat, extreme cold, and rain should be expected.
Employee must be physically able to perform repetitive motion and heavy lifting, as described below. Must be able to maintain effective audio and visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned
Physical Demands
Must wear all employer-mandated personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vests, and safety-toed work boots. Other PPE may be required from time to time depending on special safety concerns. All PPE will be provided by the company at no cost to the employee, other than safety
Must be able to hear with or without the use of a hearing device and clearly see at least 30 feet with or without the use of corrective vision
Must be able work while wearing a respirator if
Alternate standing and walking on uneven terrain surfaces, such as hillsides, muddy and icy soils, and other working surfaces. Safe negotiation of all types of surface conditions will always be required.
Bending, squatting and kneeling will be required frequently during a work day.
Continual lifting of up to 50 lbs. for distances of 30 feet or
Constant pushing and pulling of certain tools and materials will be required in the course of a day’s
The employee must be able to differentiate and / or identify colors.
A high school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate is
Must have knowledge of occupational hazards in this field and standard safety practices. Must be able to pass the 10 Hour OSHA testing and first aid – CPR requirements before starting work.
Must complete and meet requirements under the physical demands of this job description through a fitness for duty examination.
Within one year, employee must be able to obtain OSHA 30-hour status. All training will be provided by the
