  Job Description

  Objective:

  To work independently with the customer in the field during investigations, first installations, retrofit campaigns, and training. Must be flexible, adaptable and customer focused. The Field Support Engineer coordinates directly with the Aftermarket Program Management and Engineering groups. This is an off-site position, based near key customers.

  Job Location:

  The role offers the flexibility to be located either in Atlanta, Georgia, or Gainesville, Texas.

  Authorities:

  This position has the power and control to:

  • Schedule and manage worksite installations, repairs and maintenance tasks.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues to provide appropriate solutions.

  • Make on-wing decisions through liaison with Engineering to ensure that customer issues are resolved efficiently and effectively with the necessary airworthy documentation.

  Complementary Description

  Main Function Responsibilities:

  A) Interfaces directly with the customer and is available to support them in a technical role on-site or remotely in a short notice.

  B) Provides on-site technical support to customers during entry-into-service of linefit and retrofit programs.

  C) Performs cabin walks to inspect products periodically and provides detailed reports for recommended parts to be ordered.

  D) Performs inspections on-wing when customer reports in-service issues and provides a report to Product Support Engineering and Program Management teams for review.

  E) Plans, coordinates and supports service bulletin implementation and other rework campaigns.

  F) Performs troubleshooting of actuation and electrical system issues, via laptop diagnostic tool.

  G) Creates training documents for internal and customer use.

  H) Provides seat product training to customers.

  I) Participates in project milestone meetings (ITCM, PDR, CDR, FAI, etc.) to provide feedback from the field.

  J) Provides regular reporting to management on the progress of on-going activities.

  K) Performs other duties as assigned.

  Job Requirements

  Qualification Requirements:

  A. Education & Qualification List the Scholarship degree, type, etc. i.e.:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or related area, or 6 years related experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree to meet the education requirement.

  • FAA Mechanic Certificate (A&P) is preferred.

  B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge:

  • Minimum of 3 years related experience is required.

  • Experience in aircraft maintenance is preferred.

  C. Professional Skills:

  • Must have proven ability to work well with customers and with all management levels under stressful situations, and the ability to communicate customer needs to all departments within the company in an efficient manner.

  • Must be able to read engineering blueprints, wiring diagrams and other technical documents (AMM, CMM, SB, SIL, etc.).

  • Must be able to acquire a strong, technical knowledge of Safran Seats products.

  • Must be comfortable working with tools.

  • Must have a working knowledge of the standard suite of office software products (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Have an understanding of FAA Part 145 Repair Station regulations.

  • Preferred knowledge in aircraft systems and maintenance.

  • Ability to read and review written communication.

  • Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.

  D. Behavioral Skills:

  • Must be able to function as part of a team.

  • Must be flexible to support customers at any time.

  • Must be able to interface with all departments within the company, including program management, spares, supply chain, engineering and operations.

  E. Desirable Aspects:

  • Speaks other languages (ex. Spanish, French, etc.)

  Specificity of the job

  International and/or Domestic travel required; up to 50%.
