Field Educational Representative (FER)
TCU/IAM union advanced transportation training program is looking to fill the position of Field Educational Representative (FER) at the Excelsior Springs, MO site. TCU/IAM works with the Excelsior Springs Job Corps to place young adults in meaningful transportation-related careers.
FER Duties
Instructs a classroom of 20-25 students between the ages of 18 and 24 in the subjects of Consumer Math, Keyboarding, Business Communications and/or Transportation classes.Uses in person and on-line hybrid model for instruction while the pandemic limits in person learning in some cases.Teaches concepts of resume writing, communication skills, listening skills, interviewing practice, etc).Teaches life skill and consumer math including loans, checking accounts, budgeting, spreadsheetsTeaches keyboarding, computer skills, word processingProvides supplemental transportation instruction.Maintains daily/weekly/monthly records of student completion and progressAssists students in preparing for job opportunitiesSupports the Lead Field Educational Representative (LFER) in placing student in careersTransports students to field trips, valid driver's license requiredRequired skills/experience:
A college degree in education or related field is required.Comparable teaching experience and a valid teaching credential are preferred.Work experience in the airline, railroad or other mass transit area is a plus.Multi-tasking skills as well as strong organizational and administrative skills are required.The ability to effectively create and carry out lesson plans, and also classroom management including discipline are expected.This is a full-time position and offers a competitive union salary with excellent benefits.
