As a Fiber Locator, your primary responsibility will be to locateunderground fiber optic cable correctly, safely, and efficiently. Thiswill require that you manage your own daily route and schedule within certainparameters, and that you are committed to the high quality and accuracy ofyour work to ensure that customers and contractors can operate in completesafety and with full knowledge of the location of any underground fiber opticsthey may encounter.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Search for underground fiber optics and accurately marking the location
Complete all necessary locate documentation
Maintain daily contact with utility managers, crews, homeowners, andcontractors regarding locate issues
Receive daily locates via computer/device
Prioritize your daily work by going through all locate requests to determinerouting
Read and understand provided maps to assist in identification of undergroundfiber optics
Ensure that customers and contractors suffer no damages or injuries due tomislocated fiber optics
Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner, and work periodic weekends orevening on-call rotation
Work closely with GIS personnel to ensure that up-to-date fiber maps areaccurate for system and contract personnel
Provide a safe work environment by being knowledgeable of and enforcing allstate, local, and federal safety regulations, and company safety policies
Operate and monitor company-owned vehicle by inspecting condition daily
Maintain a valid driver's license

Colorado Residents: Typical pay for this role is $18.00 - $20.00/hourdepending on experience.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Locating, utility, construction, GIS, safety awareness experience a plus
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Knowledge of underground utility construction and your assigned geographicregion
Basic knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, and GIS
Skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers,contractors, and company employees
Flexibility and temperament to adapt to sudden challenges and changing workconditions
Willingness to change schedule at short notice to respond to emergency calls
Availability for weekend on-call duty, as required
Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to operate a company vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license
Ability to raise up to 50 lbs.
Ability to remain upright on feet for extended periods
Ability to crouch and crawl
Ability to move on foot up to 10 miles per day
Ability to bend, kneel, stand
