  Through research programs funded by science and technology R&D organizations within the U.S. Department of Defense, the research and development team in FAST Labs collaborate across the enterprise. On this team, you'll have the opportunity to create and develop advanced technology capabilities in the areas of advanced electronics, autonomy, cyber, electronic warfare, and sensors and processing.

FAST Labs, the research arm of BAE Systems' Electronic Systems, is seeking a Program Engineering Manager to join the R3 device Materials and Manufacturing (M&M). Ideal candidates are highly motivated with an understanding in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and/or semiconductor device fabrication, device physics, multi-physics modeling, and metrology. A background in exploiting the electromagnetic, thermal, mechanical and/or quantum properties of novel materials, and their effects on fundamental device operation is preferred.

  Responsibilities:This position will support development of multi-physics-based devices with emphasis on multi-physics modeling, microfabrication process development, metrology and related material studiesThe PEM will work with Principal Investigators to advance overall technical skills and develop R&D expertise in the forefront of Advanced MicroelectronicsEngineering focal point for all activity within the projects including strategic planning, bid and proposal support for engineering content, engineering strategy and integrated plans on programs, engineering staffing, issue reporting, and risk and opportunity managementProvide overall project technical leadership; plan, execute, and manage all engineering efforts within the project. This includes tailoring company processes and procedure to execute research programsPartner and collaborate with program managers, functional engineering managers, subcontractors, customers, and factories to ensure program goals, requirements, and needs are understood and achievedMonitor project plans and execution to ensure technical and work scope requirements, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintainedEffectively communicate with clear, concise messaging to teams and leadershipPlease note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

  Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  Required Education, Experience, and Skills:Bachelor's or Master's Degree with foundation in physics, engineering, materials science or similar field3-5 years work experience in material sciences field with experience leading small teamsFamiliarity with microfabrication process and multi-physics modeling

  Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:Master's or PhD. in physics, engineering, materials science or similar field Experience/familiarity with some of the following topics:Magnetic, electro/thermal/mechanical, optical, quantum and wide bandgap semiconductor materials Device design and microfabricationDevice simulation software (TCAD, Finite Element Analysis and Modeling)Lithography mask design (kLayout, Cadence, AutoCAD, Mentor Graphics, L-Edit)PDK developmentDevice testing (4 pt Van der Paw, VNA Probe Stations, Hall Measurements, and similar)Various optical and electrical metrology (SEM, AFM, Interferometry, etc.)Additive manufacturing tools, materials and techniquesHands on experience with microfabrication processesExperience leading teams (including subcontractors) across multiple remote sitesExperience in bidding and winning new businessAbility to coordinate technical project performance with program leadershipProven capacity to grow a team and organize around a unified visionDemonstrated ability to reach across disparate technical domains to create novel solutionsStrong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting technical research to large audiencesExperience working with and providing direction to technicians in support of project work

  Pay Information

  Full-Time Salary Range: $122870 - $208890

  Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
