TheFamily Partneris a pivotal member of the Family Support Center. As primary caregivers, parents have unique perspectives about the complexities of systems of care because they are involved with so many aspects of these systems. Family Partners’ lived experiences make them especially qualified to mitigate parents’ overwhelming sense of isolation and frustration experienced when caring for a child identified as potentially needing integrated cross-system services such as child welfare, juvenile justice and other child-serving systems. As a natural support, theFamily Partnerwill provide, promote and ensure meaningful engagement of families at the individual and systems level. TheFamily Partnerwill engage in activities to reduce isolation, offer hope, strengthen the family voice, and gather and disseminate accurate information throughout the family’s involvement in the assessment, planning and intervention process.
This position will require you to work with the Monroe County Engaging Fathers Program Director and Father Advocates. Duties include meeting with the Engaging Father’s Team, working closely with staff to involve/engage fathers. This may include attending home visits and other meetings. During these meetings theFamily Partnerwill meet with fathers and other paternal figures and explain Family Voice. This person would be responsible for contact with fathers enrolled in the program to assist, engage and to provide tangible support if needed.
CCSI is partnering withMonroe County Department of Human Services (DHS)to hireaFamily Partner.This position is employed by CCSI and working on behalf ofMonroe County.
In this role, you will
Assess risk factors and determine whether family is currently appropriate for Family Partner program or if they are in immediate need of a different team member’s services or a higher level of intervention.
By meeting parent/primary caregiver at mutually agreed upon times and locations, assist parent in identifying strengths and needs and possible services/supports that may be helpful.
Support parent in engaging identified supports, including: modeling, discussions, coaching, skill building and/or inviting others to join discussion.
When aware of a crisis, immediately consult with other team members (Fatherhood, FACT, CPS, Mobile Crisis, etc.) while offering support to the parent.
Consult with other team members regarding available service options and relevant eligibility criteria.
Maintain connection with parent as long as need exists and is mutually agreed upon.
Attend regularly scheduled supervisory meetings which might include educational opportunities for Family Partner team.
Maintain appropriate boundaries and demonstrate commitment to values of Monroe County Children’s System of Care.
Participate in meetings and community events and serve on work groups, as needed/desired or directed by immediate supervisor.
Serve as model and instiller of hope for other parents given their experience and personal success in navigating systems for their children).
Support and provide advocacy for parents as they seek services for their child/youth.
With assigned parent, regularly participate in Family Voice meetings and training seminars to offer follow-up support in applying skills discussed.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma/GED or equivalent education and work experience (see CCSI's equivalency chart (https://www.ccsi.org/CCSI/media/pdfs/Equivalency-chart.pdf) )
Demonstrate ‘lived experience’ as a parent or primary caregiver who has navigated multiple child serving systems on behalf of their children such as juvenile justice, child welfare and/or mental health or other child-serving systems
Previous experience working with youth and their families highly desirable
Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English), preferred
Additional Requirements
Satisfactory completion of all required background screenings.
Valid NYS Driver’s License and/or access to reliable transportation to conduct assigned duties
