  The Family Success program is hiring Family Coaches who will support parents who are coping with difficult challenges and obstacles, will help parents connect with their own strengths and resilience, to understand and navigate complex systems, and make decisions for their families so that they and their children thrive. The focus of this role is to build effective connections with parents to provide helpful help. Family Coaches work in three core communities/boroughs (Central Bronx, Harlem and Brooklyn) will work collaboratively with parents to address their specific challenges. Family Coaches will receive extensive training in the core practices of Family Success and Graham including Solutions Based Casework, The Parenting Journey, Appreciative Inquiry, Network Peer Support Group, Visit Coaching, Anger Management, and Intimate Partner Violence. .

  Family Coach will:

  First and foremost, build effective supportive relationships with parents.

  Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of parents' strengths and challenges.

  Assist parents to name and own their challenges and to start to develop their own solutions.

  Engage in ‘straight-talk’ with parents when necessary to help parents who are conflicted or ‘stuck’ is maladaptive patterns of behavior.

  Will regularly meet parents in-person either at one of Graham’s sites or in the community or parents’ home.

  Support a minimum of 20 parents at any given time.

  Escort parents to appointments – I.e.Housing, therapy, HRA, Family Court etc.

  Recruit and facilitate support groups with a minimum of 6 parents/group.

  Introduce relevant and practical information, skills, and tools for individual behaviors or specific parenting challenges.

  Coach parents to strengthen problem-solving skills while discovering their strengths, hopes, dreams, and priorities.

  Regularly work with parents to celebrate their achievements.

  Encourage parents to engage in supportive interventions that will strengthen their Help families navigate resources within the community.

  Facilitate family foster care visits as needed.

  Collaborate with case/care management staff to provide support to parents and children.

  Provide ongoing coaching and consultation to intervene effectively with parents mental health challenges.

  Regularly document all contacts with families.

  Regularly attend required supervisions, group meetings, trainings, and Graham staff meetings – whether in-person or hybrid.

  Adhere to Graham’s Hybrid Work Policy.

  Perform additional duties as assigned.

  You Have:

  Bachelor’s Degree (BSW highly preferred)

  Experience holding challenging conversations

  Experience working with clients with mental health challenges

  Strong interpersonal skills to assist with parent engagement and are geared towards working sensitively on topics involving trauma, stress, and healing

  Proficiency with using Microsoft Office Suite

  A Passion for parent leadership and preventing child welfare involvement

  A writing assessment will be included in the hiring process

  It Is A Plus If You:

  Have experience facilitating meetings

  Are bilingual (Spanish)
