  The Worldwide Real Estate and Facilities (WREF) organization oversees and operates 16 million square feet of space with a population of over 28,000 GSK and other staff, including pharmaceutical R&D laboratories / pilot plant, and commercial office accommodation for all GSK business units. This portfolio of property currently requires an annual spend of more than 450m in operating costs and 200m in capital investment.

  The Chemical Engineer role manages programs in Workplace Real Estate and Facilities (WREF) that support site-based facility operations teams to maintain and optimize equipment performance and reliability.  This role oversees facilities related adverse event reporting, investigation, and communication programs, leads the critical spares and lubricant management programs.

  This role also provides technical support to site leadership to drive equipment reliability and performance improvement, as well as implement systems and best practices to ensure proactive measures are taken for continuous improvement.

  This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR Pharmaceutical Facilities Engineering career across a Global portfolio of R&D and Commercial sites. These responsibilities include some of the following:Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify and implement improvements, design changes or modifications to automation/mechanical systems, equipment of procedures to support the business in following established change control processesConduct site management monitoring tasks and site GEMBAs to ensure service partner and 3rd party contractor works are being carried out in compliance with national, local, and GSK standardsManage improvement programs generated by various sources:  Audit findings, CAPA, Engineering/EHS alerts, Preventable Disruptions, Sustainability objectivesExecute site assessments against Engineering Policies and Standards in support of real estate due diligence at the siteManage risk mitigation plans/actions in the Risk Management Systems to ensure gaps from engineering assessments or with service delivery at sites are brought it acceptable levels (as low as reasonably practical)Lead investigations and mitigation plans at the site for significant service failures, critical/major audit findings, dispute resolution and process improvements. Champion implementation of engineering standards and process improvement initiatives from WREF service towers into site delivery teams.  Identify and implement areas for EHS risk reduction and environmental sustainability.Ensure compliance to Quality and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements and ensure that the Engineering activity is a safe place to work and 'inspection ready' at all times.  Will gain expertise in one or more of these High Severity Risk statutory systems such as:Asbestos containing materialsPressure Systems (steam boilers)Hazardous utility systemsCooling Towers & domestic water systems (legionella)Construction / demolition worksBuilding life safety systemsHigh voltage electricalStored bulk liquid & gasFixed & mobile lifting systemsHazardous waste management

  Manage "ad-hoc" business projects as required by WREF Site Operations Director.Maintain ethics and compliance values even when potential risk exists.Execute remediation plans from policy gap assessments. Escalate risks and/or conflicts with local customer's ways of working.

  Preferred Qualifications:If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:Ability to work in a complex environme t taking a balanced view across all interested parties and across business lines.Expertise in risk assessment methodology, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.Experience working with CMMS systems for asset maintenance management.Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.Knowledgeable of GxP principles.Knowledgeable of SQL scripting and Power BI report developmentExcellent communication skills and ability to influence effectively at all levels within the organization.Leadership skills that enable the introduction of new ways of working.
