  Job Description:

  Excellent writer and messaging expert with ability to distill information and emotively express complex narratives across audiences. Responsible for developing content in support of Discover, including executive leadership communications (speeches, articles, presentations, etc.) to internal and external stakeholders. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

  Responsibilities

  Writes articles, presentations, speeches, editorials, organizational communications, and earnings overviews for internal and external audiences. Proactively finds relevant avenues to re-purpose produced materials.

  Sources consistent pipeline of information through development of strong relationships across business. Uses relationships to gain knowledge, produce content and offer ideas for general and executive communications.

  Provides direct counsel and coaching to senior executives. Showcases thought leadership and company/industry knowledge in those discussions. Demonstrated ability to translate complex information into communication strategy.

  Creates original content for DLife, Discover’s internal communications channel, and a wide range of company publications and events.

  Helps prepare leaders for events by crafting scripted remarks or talking points, developing or evolving PowerPoint presentations and providing feedback during rehearsals. Ensures quality and consistency on all produced materials. Facilitates sign-off from Finance, Consumer Banking and other business constituents.

  Develops, edits and/or proofreads Corporate Communications' materials as needed, ensuring accuracy, clarity and brand personality are appropriate.

  Minimum Qualifications

  At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Finance, or related field

  6+ years of experience in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Finance, or related field

  In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Finance, or related field

  Preferred Qualifications

  Master's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Finance, or related field

  8+ years of experience in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Finance, or related field

  Prior communications and speechwriting experience supporting C-Suite executives within financial services

  Strong understanding of multimedia, visual storytelling and modern communications platforms

  Strong executive presence and presentation skills

  Ability to work at all levels of the organization to mine stories, plan content, drive initiatives and influence change

  Compensation:

  The base pay for this position generally ranges between $88,500.00 to $149,300.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
