About Equipment Specialist

  Summary This position is located in the United States Mint Philadelphia, Manufacturing Department, Production Maintenance Division. This position provides advice to management on the testing, procurement, operation, repair, and disposition of production equipment. Responsibilities As a Equipment Specialist, you will: Provide technical equipment advice, recommendations, and decisions for the Coining, Numismatics and Production Maintenance Divisions production operations on all production equipment including peripheral components of coinage machinery Develop engineering blueprints, layouts, and specifications Work within the computerized, automated equipment tracking system to order, stock adjust and maintain inventories of listed parts to insure the continuous operation of coin presses, all production equipment Implement and monitor vendor's modifications to equipment Represent the Coining, Numismatic, and Production Maintenance Divisions on technical panels, continuous improvement teams, and procurement groups, both locally and at the Headquarters level Requirements Conditions of Employment All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. A one-year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on. Undergo an income tax verification May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National Qualifications You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-12 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as: - Experience developing engineering blueprints, layouts, and project specifications; AND - Experience using computerized automated equipment tracking systems to order and stock inventories; AND - Experience performing project management involving manufacturing and/or production equipment and/or manufacturing processes. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. We must be able to verify this experience in your resume in order for you to receive credit. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-12 you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
