About Environmental Protection Specialist

  This position is pre-award and will be located in Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean:

  The Environmental Protection Specialist shall be responsible solely for ensuring that all Contractor operations and responsibilities are in compliance with

  applicable environmental requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, implementation of the host command Environmental Management System (EMS); oil and hazardous substance spill prevention, control, countermeasures and cleanup; hazardous material minimization, handling and storage; hazardous waste reduction, collection, storage, and proper disposal; proper management of operation of potable fresh water resources; industrial and wastewater treatment; proper management and operation of solid waste collection, segregation for recycling, and proper disposal; management of mission critical and non-use of non-mission critical ozone-depleting substances; development of pertinent Contractor SOPs and contingency plans; and conducting/ documenting required inspections and training. Additionally, the Specialist shall serve as the central point of contact with the Government listing of areas needing substantial compliance with the BIOT regulations, DGFGS and applicable U.S. Environmental Standards

  QUALIFICATIONS

  At least five (5) years of experience as an Environmental Protection Specialist/Engineer, or work in a closely related field, gaining exposure to the environmental requirements of the EPA, DOT, and other regulatory agencies.

  Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Chemistry based on a four-year course of study from a U.S. or U.K. accredited college or university.
