  Reporting Structure

  Reports to the Assistant General Manager

  ResponsibilitiesThe Environmental Manager maintains operations in compliance with all federal, state and local environmental laws as well as the corporate Environmental Management System. Duties include but are not limited to:

  Manage requirements as outlined in applicable plans and permits such as: SPCC, SWPPP, and Air.

  Completing and filing all applicable permit applications, to include calculating air emissions.Manage waste from generation to disposal to include profiling the waste, collection, storage and identify disposal options.Completes all environmental reports such as SWPPP, EPCRA, Air, Waste maintains records in an organized manner and in compliance with company policies.Keeps abreast of all new requirements at the state, federal and local levels for air, water, and waste. Ensure implementation of applicable changes.Conducts site investigations, prepares reports, and facilitates activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and procedures.Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures for plant environmental activities/issues.Review all new products/chemicals and projects for environmental impact.Enters and maintains all SDS documentation for the plant.Manage and maintain Environmental software technologies for environmental programs; Dakota, EHS Management system, EHSI, Pillar, EDM Determine training requirements, develop training materials, and train employees. Member of the emergency response team.Identify opportunities to get employees involved in environmental, process changes and overall continual improvement efforts of the plant through the plant's cascading goals. Communicate regulatory and corporate requirements and ensure implementation.Respond to unsafe conditions (either correct or contact Maintenance).Shut down process if not in compliance with environmental permits, plans or regulation. Looks for opportunities to get employees involved in environmental, process changes and overall improvement efforts.Follows all EHS guidelines and applicable procedures.

  QualificationsMust be dependable and self-motivated.Must possess effective communication skills.Must be organizedMust be able to read, understand and implement rules and regulations.Must be team orientedMust be a multi-tasker and willing to do administrative tasksBe able to contribute to and support the existence of a positive work environment.Education and/or Experience:

  Bachelor's degree in environmental science or equivalent study from an accredited four-year college or university and at least two (2) years' work experience; or five (5) + years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  Language Skills

  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and regulatory agencies.

  Mathematical Skills

  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  Reasoning Ability

  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  Computer Skills

  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database systems, Microsoft Office.

Objects over 50 pounds will require the assistance of other staff or mechanical assistance.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

  Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. There is a high noise level throughout the plant and hearing protection must be worn at all times while in the plant during production. Wearing of other proper protective equipment including metatarsal safety shoes and eye protection is required at all times while in the plant during production.
