  Job Description

  AECOM is seeking a Mid-Level Remediation Engineer for employment in our Chelmsford, MA or Providence, RI office . In this role, you will perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer with this office and partner offices throughout the Northeast. This position would support the Environmental business line, primarily working on CERCLA and Department of Defense (DoD) projects. Candidates experienced and knowledge of soil and sediment excavation and landfill capping are strongly encouraged to apply.

  Responsibilities of this position, include the following:

  Serve as task lead for remediation activities including field oversight of remediation construction (e.g., landfill construction/capping, excavation, air monitoring), remedial design, review and reporting

  Monitor field QA/QC procedures and development of QA/QC manuals

  Gather and correlate engineering and scientific data using established and well-defined procedures

  Prepare technical work plans and reports

  Perform unsupervised field tasks

  Review analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines

  Coordinate with task and project managers, work with on-site subcontractors and field staff, support environmental sampling, data collection, and field documentation.

  Understand hazard recognition during environmental investigation and remediation activities

  Travel to various job sites within the US

  Flexible to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety (H&S)

  Qualifications

  Minimum Requirements:

  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Environmental or Civil)

  6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience

  Valid U.S. Driver's License

  Candidate must be able to provide proof of US Citizenship

  Preferred Qualifications:

  6+ years of Remediation Engineering experience on CERCLA / DOD sites

  Landfill cover oversight and design experience

  CERCLA and DOD experience

  Engineer in Training, and on tract to obtain Professional Engineering license within 2 to 3 years

  Strong technical report writing skills and the ability to develop design specifications

  Ability to assist with the preparation of cost estimates for remediation plans and activities

  Must be able to travel for 1-2 weeks at a time, periodically

  Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word programs

  Candidate must be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA medical surveillance physical examination

  40-hour HAZWOPER training

  Familiarity with EPA and USACE requirements for Health and Safety and QA/QC

  OSHA 10-hr or 30-hr Construction H&S certification

  First Aid/CPR training

  Familiar with various remedial systems design, installation, and Operation & Maintenance requirements (landfill caps and controls, SVE, in-situ groundwater treatment)

  Additional Information

  Offered rate of compensation (Rhode Island locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $110,000.
