  Job Description

  The AECOM Remediation Practice is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Engineer I to join our Remediation team based in Latham, New York.  We are seeking candidates who wish to establish a career in environmental engineering, specific to remediation projects. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about environmental remediation, and passionate about pursuing a career focused on remedial sampling and oversight as well as construction management.  

  This is a field-base role comprising approximately 80% field work and 20% office-based work. The candidate will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across upstate New York. This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude.

  The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team. Note this role may require travel outside of upstate New York (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the United States.

  The job responsibilities for the position will include, but will not be limited to:

  Performing routine fieldwork working under close supervision from project managers. Field work may include soil, sediment, surface water and/or groundwater sampling, operation and maintenance of remedial systems, and remedial construction oversight including subcontractor management.

  Participating in site visits and coordinating and assisting field staff as required.

  Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

  Develop knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.

  Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  Receiving, reviewing and submitting documents for approval (Submittals/ RFIs/ etc.).

  Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks as needed.

  Creating designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  Using computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

  Qualifications

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  BA/BS + 0 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  Valid U.S Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  Bachelors Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field

  1+ years of experience in environmental investigations and site remediation

  Experience with CERCLA and RCRA remediation programs at complex sites

  OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification

  Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification

  Understanding of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, Bluebeam)

  Additional Information

  Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (NY locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $70,000.
