We are growing and seeking to immediately fill an opening for an Engineering Technician! As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for using computer-aided design (CAD) equipment to provide support to the Engineering department by preparing routine layouts of fire sprinkler systems, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams. You will be provided with thorough training resources to develop your fire sprinkler design skills and opportunities to advance in a fire sprinkler design career with Ferguson Fire Design.
This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.
Responsibilities:
Support the development of fire system designs, including fire sprinkler layout, pipe routing, hanger placement, and other fire system design related tasks as directed by senior design staff.
Support the production of documents, files, and services for fire system designs.
Support the selection of appropriate equipment and methods for incorporation into system design.
Organize and maintain building plans, project specifications, building type to identify design requirements.
Organize and maintain the design criteria (hazard) required for the design.
Reference the hydraulic analysis and or technical calculations needed to complete design.
Learn best practices and requirements to optimize fabrication data.
Learn the adoption of cutting edge software platforms and tools.
Qualifications:
Solid understanding of drafting techniques preferred.
1+ years' experience using REVIT, or equivalent training is highly preferred.
Aptitude to learn how to read construction documents (i.e., construction plans, specifications, etc.).
Construction survey skills and/or construction coordination process experience preferred.
Mechanical proficiency with ability to complete mathematical calculations.
Ability to balance multiple problems.
Ability to learn and process technical information.
Possess professional verbal and written communication skills.
Very detail oriented.
Strong computer proficiency including use of Microsoft applications and navigating multiple software systems.
