Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for certain personnel of the DoD workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located in the Galveston District, Engineering and Construction Division, Construction Branch, Northern Area Office, in Port Arthur, Texas. Responsibilities Direct and participate in preparation of preliminary plans and specifications and accompanying data sheets covering dredging operations. Maintain a detailed history of the dredging operations and compiles data used to prepare future dredging programs. Preparation of plans and specifications will be primarily on CADD using the available CADD hardware and software in the office. Assists in the coordination, operation, and maintenance of two different survey systems (land and hydrographic). Provide technical guidance to other technicians. Perform quality assurance of on-going contracts. Processes all land and hydrographic surveys. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Collecting survey data using electronic systems; AND 2) Utilizing equipment capabilities for topographic and hydrographic surveys; AND 3) Developing plan sheets by use of Computer Aided Design/Drafting (CADD). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
