Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. What You Will Do:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for coaching, guiding, and facilitating the development of a workgroup to develop collaborative relationships among their peers, customers, suppliers, and other functional groups to ensure goals are achieved. You will create and maintain an organizational climate/culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement/commitment, and a sense of urgency towards business success. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor, and coach your immediate work group, and deepen your professional network.
The Morton Distribution Center (DC) plays a key role in supporting Caterpillar customers worldwide as one of the largest Caterpillar Distribution Centers. The Morton DC supports our dealers through the Parts Distribution network by getting parts to our customers as quickly, efficiently, and safety as possible. Our goal is to get the right part to the right place at the right time. The Morton DC covers a wide variety of areas from demand planning and inventory management to dealer order support and receiving, storage, and shipping operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead the Morton Distribution Center (DC) Maintenance team comprised of 5 management, 3-4 salaried, and 60-65 hourly skilled tradesmen.
Focus on providing maintenance support for operations, facility, grounds, janitorial, and mobile handling equipment in the most safe, efficient manner.
Lead team in development and execution of technical solutions to Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) issues.
Collaboration with internal partners to develop and maintain acceptable response and repair times, technical solutions, and OEE to support warehouse operations.
Provide leadership to deliver on accountable Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD) transformation initiatives. For 2024/2025, the Morton Maintenance team’s focus will be on technology, enabling solutions, and maximizing network efficiency.
Provide direction, focus, motivation, encouragement, and performance assessment for the team.
Manage period departmental expenses and related contractor expenses to an annual business plan.
Stay abreast of advanced in Maintenance Management and related strategies.
Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.
What You Have (Basic Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or equivalent experience in-lieu of degree.
10 (plus) years’ of progressively responsible job-related technical experience.
3 (plus) years of previous supervisory or project leadership experience.
Experience working with cross-functional teams.
Program/project management and organizational skills.
The ability to travel domestically up to 5% of the time.
What You Have (Preferred Qualifications):
Experience with Maintenance/Facilities Management.
Experience in a Warehouse Operations/Manufacturing environment.
Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean.
Experience with SAP CMMS or other computerized maintenance management system.
