Engineer IV, System Engineering and Architecture
Omnicell is the world leader in pharmacy robotics, and our robotic IV automation system empowers pharmacists and technicians with tools to improve dose accuracy and make IV pharmacy compounding safer while reducing costs and enabling compliance.
We seek a technology visionary who has a demonstrated track record of collaborating effectively with both hardware and software engineering teams. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in automation engineering, possess the ability to thoroughly analyze existing systems, act as a bridge between hardware and software teams, and demonstrate proficiency in guiding and expanding the system architecture to ensure the achievement of customer objectives.
Responsibilities:
Translate business requirements into effective technology solutions.
Lead the concept design of new products, new features and relevant design changes on released products, collaborating with the Engineering SME
Develops/utilizes models, characterization testing, analysis methods, and statistics to optimize designs.
Develop the HW system architecture, and interfaces based on our platform requirements.
Works with the functional design team (EE/ME/FW/SW) to guide the detailed design implementation, and conduct design and code reviews to ensure they meet the requirements.
Document the architecture in system engineering tools to provide traceability with overall system engineering requirements and V&V, maintain ongoing changes
Develop system goals and product requirements in balance with business, technical, and customer requirements. Identify and monitor system metrics.
Collaborate closely with customers, partners, and internal teams to communicate the architecture, and ensure that their feedback is incorporated regularly into architecture changes.
Monitor live products to identify and evaluate design and usability issues, performance trends, possible enhancements
Resolve defects/bugs during QA testing, pre-production, production, and post-release patches.
Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.
Provide technical leadership to Risk Management across the full product platform
Lead the execution of failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA) of system level and SoS (System of System) level designs to identify risk areas and to improve designs
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Skilled at applying systems engineering frameworks and best practices to product development
Experience in the successful delivery of complex technology programs with both hardware and software.
Experience in R&D development, including the system design and integration of complex multi-disciplinary systems.
Experience in the creation of complex embedded systems leading software design and control systems.
Well-versed in Agile development methodology and both hardware and software development practices.
Having experience in healthcare or pharmaceuticals, particularly in the design of medical devices in accordance with compliance standards like IEC60601, IEC61010 and ISO14971, would be a big plus.
Capability to apply DFx methodologies across all the product lifecycle
Comfortable leading the technical design and deployment of embedded systems
Ability to balance driving the right architecture but realizing the realities of having customers and the need to ship hardware and software.
Ability to forge great relationships and communication with product and technical leaders. Help ensure the teams work efficiently.

Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics or other Engineering field; may consider relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
8+ years of experience in R&D development in complex mechatronics projects
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Master’s degree in computer Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic engineering
2+ years of experience in complex embedded systems leading software design and control systems.
2+ years of experience developing products in a regulated environment for medical device industry or healthcare technology
1+ years of experience with data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence algorithms

Ability to travel 20% of the time.
