Job Description Summary

　　The Engineer in the Shop (EIS) Structural Castings position is an experienced engineer located at GE Supplier, PCC Carson City, (Carson City, Nevada) reporting to an Engineering Manager within the Defense and Systems Engineering Delivery team. This role is responsible for supporting the casting strategy at PCC Carson City.

　　The role will be responsible for driving a high rigor into the manufacturing-design integration process, improve the capacity and robustness of product manufacture across all engine programs within the assigned manufacturing site.

　　Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has a high level of autonomy, also requiring high levels of operational judgment.

　　Roles and Responsibilities

　　Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products

　　Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.

　　Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

　　Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

　　Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

　　Required Qualifications

　　Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

　　Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in design engineering

　　Desired Characteristics

　　Familiarity with GE systems associated with part transfers and casting cold starts.

　　Strong oral and written communication skills.

　　Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

　　Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

　　Previous experience in casting manufacturing.

　　Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams

　　Willingness to learn from more experienced engineers, and shop resources

　　Practical experience with GD&T.

　　Demonstrated RC/CA experience

　　Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.

　　MRB Certification (Structures)

　　SPS Approved
