  To help achieve our business plans, Bruce Power currently has an opportunity for an Engineer/Engineering Trainee, in the Electrical and I&C Systems Engineering Section.

  This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

  What will you be responsible for?

  As a member of this technical team, the successful candidate will provide expertise in a specific technical area required to sustain performance of assets and resolve non-standard design and technical problems related to Electrical equipment(s) or system(s).

  Specific Responsibilities:

  Act as Responsible System Engineer for assigned Station Electrical Power Distribution System.

  Regularly monitor and review the performance of assigned system and components with a focus on predicting and preventing equipment failures.

  Complete System Health Reporting for assigned System(s) as required.

  Collaborate with Component Engineers, Design Engineers, Operations, Maintenance and Plant Health Committee to resolve equipment health threats or concerns.

  Develop and maintain an understanding of the assigned equipment through participation in industry users-groups and network with external knowledgeable contacts. Maintain strong relationships with vendors and industry, solicit support as required for component management.

  Review relevant industry Operating Experience and regulatory requirements and initiate actions as necessary. Act as a Bruce Power contact to EPRI, COG, etc. for the assigned system group.

  Focus on long-term equipment health and develop, optimize and maintain Technical Basis Assessment, Life Cycle Management Plan and determine Asset Life Projections and Options.

  Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance, including but not limited to reviewing technical content of Operating and Maintenance manuals, engineering evaluation plan and/or troubleshooting plan technical verification, or provide support to the Technical Operability Evaluation process.

  Act as the Peer Group coordinator for the designated components and equipment. Organize, prepare the agenda and content, and lead peer group meetings where required.

  Independently manage workload to maintain high levels of quality and schedule adherence for assigned deliverables.

  Act as owners’ representation for the projects related to assigned system, where required.

  Attend, and represent department, as directed, on various internal and external technical committees.

  Assist Station Engineering to ensure systems are operating within the established design and licensing basis.

  Knowledge and Skills:

  A technical working knowledge in Electrical Power Distribution System, classification and Ontario Electrical Safety Code

  Familiar with international standards such as IEC 61508, 61513 and 61226.

  Previous experience with reliability engineering or asset management will be considered as an asset.

  Demonstrated ability to achieve task results consistent with requirements for safety, quality, quantity and resource allowance.

  Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills

  Demonstrated ability to interact positively with others by developing trust, mutual respect and Co-operative working relationships.

  Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and organize work to meet objectives.

  Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines and heavy workloads.

  Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.

  Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and be self-motivated.

  Proven ability to write technical documentation.

  Strong leadership skills and high degree of accountability and engagement.

  A history of demonstrating strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making capability.

  A high degree of initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, and the ability to work with minimal guidance in a team environment.

  Demonstrated thorough knowledge of electrical equipment.

  Education and Experience:

  Engineer (Occupation Code 670325)

  Completion of a 4-year University degree.

  An Ontario Professional Engineering designation is required (P.Eng.).

  A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years’ experience is considered necessary.

  Engineering Trainee (Occupation Code 670207)

  Completion of a 4-year University degree.

  Required to obtain a valid Professional Engineers of Ontario certification.

  A period of over 2 years and up to and including 4 years experience is considered necessary.
