Provides engineering support, inspection and professional civil engineering for several City operations including but not limited to utilities, street systems,stormwater,and plan reviews. Performs entry-level professional engineering workand supervises project management staff. Work requires independent evaluation and analysis of issues and exercising of judgement, education, and experience to select and apply criteria to resolve issues and make recommendations to appropriate staff. Decision-making includes selection of methods to address issues that is subject to constraints applied by project objectives and direction. Provides reviews of drawing and permits, assists with project design, and facilitates bid and project management.

　　Qualifications

　　Required:

　　Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Project Management, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a directly related field.

　　One year of engineering-related experience.

　　Valid North Carolina Class C Drivers License with satisfactory driving record.

　　Preferred:

　　Two years of engineering related experience with a municipal entity.

　　Professional Engineer licensure and certification.

　　Physical Requirements

　　Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of stooping, reaching, walking, grasping, hearing, talking, and repetitive motions.

　　Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

　　Must possess the visual acuity to prepare data and statistics, work with accounting processes, handle proofing tasks, do extensive reading, and operate a computer terminal.
