Incumbents in this Department of Career Services (DCS) position under 38U.S.C. 4103A(a), provides intensive services and facilitates placementsto meet the employment and training needs of veterans. The EmploymentCounselor (EC) prioritizes service to special disabled veterans, otherdisabled veterans, and other categories of veterans in accordance withpriorities determined by the Secretary of Labor (Secretary). Theincumbent will review and analyze Career Center Veterans informationthrough records, tests, interviews and observations and advise clientson such matters as creating employment plans and developing job searchtechniques. The EC will confer with agency staff and others on clients\'behalf; conduct counseling interviews; respond to inquiries regardingeligibility for/benefits of/procedures related to various Career Centerprograms; act as liaisons to associated public and private serviceorganizations; compile educational and other information as needed andperform related duties as required. Duties include but are not limitedto: Compile occupational, educational, and other pertinent informationto assist Career Center veterans in determining vocational andeducational interests and goals. Advise veterans on such matters as jobsearch techniques and processes, transitioning their skill from themilitary to the civilian sector, ways of dealing with barriers toemployment, and specific courses of action to prepare for training andemployment opportunities. Answer inquiries from veterans and otherinterested parties concerning agency programs and services: eligibilityrequirements, benefits of using them, procedures for enrolling, etc.Assist Veterans in the preparation of agency forms. Serve as liaison toprivate and other public organizations to promote Career Center programsand services, to exchange information, and to develop shared resourcesthat will enhance services to veterans. Consult and coordinate withother appropriate representatives of federal, state and local programsfor the purposes of developing maximum linkages to promote opportunitiesand provide maximum employment assistance to veterans. Develop andpromote apprenticeship and other On-The-Job training positions forveterans. Provide appropriate assistance to other Career Center staffwith responsibility for veterans in carrying out their responsibilities.THIS IS A VETERAN FUNDED POSITION.
