Job Overview:
APTIM is seeking an energetic and motivated Emergency Management & Disaster Response Intern to join our Resilience team. APTIM's internship program provides students with the opportunity to apply skills gained in an academic setting to challenging projects and meaningful work assignments. Interns will be paired with experienced mentors and should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, finishing their internship having gained a broad experience in various aspects of Whole Community Approach to Emergency Management.
This is a temporary position.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Perform research and conduct policy analysis on resilience topics working in collaboration with other team members
Works with team members to ensure that APTIM emergency management program demonstrates a "whole community" approach
Support stakeholder outreach, coordination, and communication; support the development of preparedness exercises, training seminars, and client meetings; support administration, and logistics for events
Collect and compile a variety of data and information to prepare reports, and assessments
Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling, organizing meetings, and taking notes, preparing meeting materials
Write, edit, and proofread documents or sections of documents, such as technical reports and other documents
Basic Qualifications:
Attending an accredited educational institution pursuing an undergraduate degree
Interest in one or more of the following areas:
Disaster and Climate Resilience; Long-term Recovery and sustainable solutions
Serving those historically excluded and underserved communities
Policy and legislature analysis, development, assessment, and evaluation
Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework completed
Must be at least 18 years of age
Willing to travel 40-50% of internship to numerous sites
Must have experience with MS Office software, including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
Must be a self-starter, excel in time management, and work well under pressure
Must be available to work in various settings such as in office or remotely, depending on department needs.
