Team Impact In this role, you will have the opportunity to work under the direction of a Registered Nurse, tech assists the professional staff by performing a variety of paraprofessional and technical functions which contribute to the safety, care, and comfort of patients and families. You work will consist of providing direct and indirect patient care using your technical skills, and following departmental and hospital-wide procedures, all while maintaining a clutter, free and safe environment. Your work will be vital for ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and coworkers, with helping to provide exceptional patient care. How You Will Fulfill Your Potential * * Responsibilities · Assist patients by providing first level care including Vital sign collection, performing specimen collection/phlebotomy, collecting 12-lead EKG, Splint application, Toileting, positioning, basic ADL’s, and postmortem care when necessary · Assist patients with mobility through such activities as ambulating, Transportation of patients via stretcher/wheelchair, positioning and others as indicated by individual plan of care · Support a safe care environment by directly observing safety sits/documentation, utilizing de-escalation techniques for care of behavioral health population, assisting with restraints, and carefully following Infection Prevention procedures/ HIPAA confidentiality guidelines · Promptly and prudently responding to hospital codes including Code Blue, Rapid Response, Code 250, and Pediatric Code Blue · Assist and support an optimized/safe work environment by assisting with procedure/equipment set up, stocking/room set up, equipment safety checks, and policy finding/review · Transport, labs, blood, non-narcotic medications, oxygen tanks, supplies, and equipment as needed · Serve as a communicator with patients, family members, and staff to optimize quality care Qualifications/Experience * * Education/Accredited Programs * * · High school graduate or GED required · Associates degree or higher preferred · Healthcare specific technical diploma highly preferred Experience/Abilities · EMT or paramedic experience highly desired · Hands on, patient facing experience in a hospital setting preferred · Experience equivalent to 100 hours of patient care experience strongly preferred · Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy and physiology preferred * Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:* · Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required; can be obtained after hire · Certified Nurse Assistant/EMT-B certification preferred · ED 101 tech training required; can be obtained after hire · Phlebotomy training; can be obtained after hire · 12 lead EKG training required; can be obtained after hire · De-escalation training annually after hire * Skills/Abilities* · Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing · Customer service skills consistent with organizational mission and values · Ability to follow directions; perform routine responsibilities in a flexible, self-directed manner · Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as, instructions, policies, procedures · Ability to use math skills to compute/interpret figures related to patient care Communities We Serve * * Located in the foothills of the beautiful Adirondack mountains, Glens Falls is conveniently located a short drive away from the capital region and Lake George. Salary Range The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $18.00 to $25.96 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
