About Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic

  Summary About the Position: Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, repair installation, and programming of the Industrial Programmable Personal Computers and Programmable Logic Control systems that control the operation of a marine navigation Lock and Dam on the Ohio River and maintain pool control. Management may select from either grade level announced. Responsibilities Responsible for operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and programming of the Industry Personal Computers and Programmable Logic Control systems that control the operation of marine navigation Lock and Dam on the Ohio River. Diagnosis, maintenance, repair, test, and installation of electrical equipment and systems, including highly complex equipment and systems which is essential to provide reliable and safe locking operations, and incoming power lines. Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and installation of new replacement cameras and TV monitors and associated fiber optic cable within the integrated system for the CCTV for safety and security subsystems. Maintain current subject matter knowledge of network architectures, hardware and software capabilities, and configurations and Provide system administration, troubleshooting, and operation of the LAN. Maintain records of inspections, outages, test data, etc. Use numerous tools and equipment including meggers, voltmeters, ammeters, ground fault testers, etc. Recommend to supervisor when major repairs are needed so that coordinated effort can take place relative to temporary repair, technical engineering review, procurement of replacement items and maintenance of lock or dam control capability. Assist district electrical engineers in conducting tests; notes improvements or changes and makes oral or written reports of test results to be used for future design or construction. Failure to meet the Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Minimum Qualifications WY-11 (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): I have the ability to perform difficult and complex jobs. I have independently installed, modified, overhauled, maintained, monitored, inspected, troubleshot, and repaired complex electronics equipment and complete operational systems consisting of numerous complex integral components. I have basic knowledge of programming language to input software commands. I am skilled in in diagnostics, maintenance, repair, testing and installation of electronic systems, and I have extensive knowledge of hydraulic, optical, mechanical, and pressure/sensing subsystems. I work with a high degree of independence. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Minimum Qualifications WY-12 (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform the most difficult and complex jobs. Independently operated, maintained, troubleshoot, repaired, install integrated control systems and subsystems. Monitor primary power supply, emergency generators, hydraulic cooling systems and rectifiers. expert knowledge of programming language to input software commands. Evaluated operational problems and determined the resultant impact to the integrated control systems. Terminated and tested fiber optic cable and wiring. Skills in diagnostics, maintenance, repair, testing and installation of electronic and electrical control systems, including complex equipment and systems. An expert and work with a high degree of independence. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Theory of Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Use of Test Equipment: Electronics PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Work requires frequent and extended standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing on concrete structures, and working in cramped and uncomfortable positions. Often is required to climb ladders and use platforms for hard-to-reach places to make repairs and installations. Uses coordination of eyes, hands, feet, legs, and body in performing work Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasional objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds. On some assignments incumbent must climb 20 to 50-foot ladders. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside, during daylight and at night, as required by emergencies, on high structures over turbulent water with strong currents, in the proximity of moving machinery and with high voltage electrical current in cramped quarters, and on scaffolds or slings as required by repairs to be made. Occasionally works behind bulkheads, or in tunnels below water level. Incumbent is subject to falls, drowning, bums, electrical shocks, injury and discomfort, exposure to moving equipment, machinery, loud noise, inclement weather, and dangerous icy conditions. Uses safety equipment such as life vest, protective car devices, hard hat hard-toe shoes, respirators, and/or protective clothing. Education This job series does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a(n) Career Field 17 Material Maintenance Management position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
