We are looking for a Principal Electrical Project Engineer who can develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for mid-size to larger scale projects and suggests appropriate adjustments to ensure adherence to the established project plan, schedule, and budget. This team member will directly guide and lead designated Design Engineers who also work on seating projects but who have a different reporting relationship. The team member will also work closely with Sales, Operations, Program Management, Engineering and Certification personnel throughout lifecycle of entire project. Including initial concept for business development and sustainment efforts post final product delivery.
Primary Responsibilities:
Directs Engineering activities, execute project against established schedule, support customer meetings, edit Engineering BOMs, author service documents, etc.
Helps oversee, coach, and mentor fellow members of the team in adherence to system integration best practices, standards, and requirements.
Performs critical path analysis and prepares and implements work-around plans to ensure the successful completion of projects. Including performing proper risk management and mitigation.
Conducts meetings, consolidates, and presents plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s).
Identifies and reacts to project problems and recommends solutions, such as reallocating resources or changing contractual specifications.
Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. Including monitoring and assessing project issues. Then developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines as needed.
Reviews project and budget status, manages schedules and prepares reports.
Establishes electrical design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, validation, verification, and test.
Provide electrical routing, electrical design, and process solutions to resolve manufacturing and in-field problems.
Direct building of prototypes and development hardware, including writing statements of work. Support on-going builds and product modifications depending on project and/or business needs.
Performs various engineering activities that cannot be attributed to a defined discipline including, but not limited to continuous improvement initiatives.
10-15% travel required, based on business needs.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 7 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in the design of electromechanical systems for commercial aircraft seating products.
Experience with electrical system integration either in a design engineering or project engineering capacity.
Familiarity with FAA requirements a plus
Familiarity with FAA AC21-49, DO-160, and DO-178 requirements is a huge plus.
The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
