The position is charged with the assistant of the Environment, Health, and Safety function on a single site within Egypt with the responsibility to provide support to the EH&S ’Manager to enable the function to achieve local, Regional, and Corporate objectives and targets.
The position is also charged with the responsibility of overseeing operator training to ensure that it meets the required standards to ensure the health and safety of our colleagues and that Company EH&S training requirements for managers and supervisors are successfully implemented.
The job holder will be responsible for ensuring the effective execution of the fatality prevention and framework assessment programs and all other EH&S programs within their area of responsibility.
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in Science or EngineeringExperience:
2 years minimum experience in a heavy industrial environment;
Competent knowledge of legislation pertinent to EH&S within Egypt
Other Requirements:
Detailed knowledge of steel industry working practices, including industry standards and Global Best Practices.
Detailed knowledge of heavy plant operation
Detailed knowledge of operating practices at all sites within their area of responsibility;
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English;
The job holder will be required to represent the Company at customer meetings.
High level of cultural awareness for the indigenous peoples of Egypt
Preferred Experience:
Executing, maintaining accreditations, and auditing to ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS 18001 or national equivalent.
Lead accident investigator
Experience with a process-orientated investigation system.
Proven ability to interpret data and produce site-level reports
Environmental management awareness to national standards.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to verbal & written questions
Employment exposure to an overseas-based International Company
Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to develop and manage effective internal and external relationships;
Ability to share knowledge and circulate good practice within ROW.
Must be a team player and be able to actively participate in team EH&S meetings and programs.
Technical Skills:
Competent presentation skills including use of Company preferred IT programs including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word;
Proficiency in the use of electronic incident notification systems such as EMEX, MYOSH, or INS.
Other Skills:
Must be fluent in written and spoken Arabic.
The ability to work with minimum supervision and use initiative;
Must be flexible and be able to travel as required to Dubai and within Egypt
Must demonstrate the highest levels of personal and business integrity at all times;
Ability to liaise with any government, state, or federal agencies about EH&S on behalf of the business.
